Dog people (those that bark and jump to make their point) and Cat people (those that lay back and pee on your stuff when you aren't looking) require all the tools from the OD playbook in order to build and maintain a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative culture. We use Schein's task process to create equitable decision making platforms and set a pace of change that works for dogs and cats. We use Galbraith's Star Model to break down issues into key components and cover all the bases. We model co-leadership (the subject of my thesis) and gain a better understanding of ourselves and others through the Inner Committee exercise, one-on-one coaching, and leaning gently into conflict. Together we've aligned around common goals and tackle heavy subjects with compassion and self-care. We'd like to share what we've learned with the Animal Welfare community and others hoping to embed justice, equity, and inclusion into everything they do.
